Westley went camping with Dad, and Will and I were getting bored just being at home. Will found a pack of plastic Easter Eggs in the garage. I asked him if he wanted to do an egg hunt and he was excited to do so.
So, I hid the eggs for him and him (and Major) found them.
Then he hid the eggs for me... in all the same exact places I had just hid them for him, and then proceeded to tell me where they all were before I had a chance to find them myself :)
That made me think of new twist for an egg hunt.
See if the seeker can then re-hide them all in the same places (as Will pretty much did) but try and even get the same colored eggs in each spot. Maybe I'll try that with Westley and see if he can do it...

Color Mixing in a Plastic Bag
I've done this activity with other children in the past, but finally got around to doing it with my boys. We were talking about what colors it took to make green and purple, so I got out our tote of paints and let them experiment. This is a great activity because it is mess free!
I didn't expect this, but the boys loved it. They wanted to make more and more bags. After about 30 minutes and 10 bags I stopped them, but they would have kept on going.
Using quart size ziploc bags works best as the sandwich bags are not as sturdy. I added a little shaving cream in with the paint and it made it easier for them to mush the paints together and it lighted the colors a little bit.
Broom Ball
Not sure how we went so long without trying out this classic! Will had a great time with it though
Problem with the photo, it gave Dad evidence for how a main vine on the tomato plant got broken (oops!)

Balance Bike Believer
For Christmas, I got my 2 1/2 year old a Strider Balance bike. It took him a few months to get interest in it and get good on it, but now he can speed along pushing with his feet to gain speed and then coasting with his feet up.
He showed interest in riding Westley's 2 wheel bike with pedals but no training wheels just a few days before his 3rd birthday. Westley agreed to giving his bike to Will on his birthday (wasn't hard to convince him as he was told he would get a new bigger bike)
Will got Westley's big boy bike and after about 5 minutes he started riding all on his own. We were camping at the time, and he went probably a half mile of riding all on his own.
He is so proud of himself and so excited, and he is so cute!
Because he has pedaled a tricycle, and learned to balance on the Strider Bike, I think that is why he was able to be so successful on a real bike!

Packed 4 Fun!!
Don't worry, the boys and I still create and play each day, it's just that we have done so many a lot of what we do now are repeats. Also I have had less time to blog as I have been working on creating a new business adventure www.packed4fun.com
Packed 4 Fun sells child size, clear, durable backpacks filled with small games, toys, and activities to entertain children on-the-go.
I have often seen children in “boring” places - restaurants, doctor’s waiting rooms, airports, car rides, at their sister’s dance lessons, etc. and their parents have brought them nothing to keep them entertained. Then, out of boredom, they often end up getting into trouble. I vowed to myself to be different with my children and always have activities and snacks on hand. I definitely think it has helped. However, packing a bag of toys/activities is one more stressor when trying to get out the door. When I encouraged my boys to pack their own toys from the playroom we ended up with weird assortment- one lego, a broken leg off a toy, nothing that would actually hold their attention. Now they have their Packed 4 Fun backpacks I keep in the car and we Leave Boredom Behind!
The backpacks are clear so the boys and I can see what is inside and the material is easy to clean. They are lightweight so they can carry them themselves. Items in the backpacks have been carefully chose by me, and tested out by my boys.
I have a favor to ask you. I would sincerely appreciate it if you took the time to check out the backpacks packed with fun on my website www.packed4fun.com If you know any children for whom you will be buying a present, please consider giving them the gift of a Packed 4 Fun backpack. They make a great gift because even the child who has everything doesn’t have one of these :)
A special discount for you - my friends, family, and blog readers can receive 15% off. Just enter the coupon code 15OFF at checkout (offer good through July 31). If you live in the San Diego or Hemet area, contact me and we may be able to get your purchase to you to avoid shipping charges.
I am asking another favor of you - If you could tell others about the backpacks, I would be very grateful. See below for a shorter message you can copy and paste to send to your other friends and family. For Facebook users, please “like” Packed4Fun.
Thank you so much in advance for your support! I have put a lot of energy into this so I hope I am at least mildly successful. Otherwise, I have going to have 5 huge boxes of 250 backpacks in my living room for a long, long time!
I will still keep this blog and update it at least weekly from now on.

Bowling at Tavern Bowl
Thursday morning Kevin, the boys and I went bowling at North County Tavern & Bowl in the North County Fair Mall.
I love bowling and used to bowl all the time on campus at SDSU.
This was only like my second time bowling since Westley was born though.
We all had a good time, and I am so excited that both Westley and Will enjoyed it, and had the attention span for two games!
The boys (meaning Westley and Kevin) got a little moody when I beat them though :)

San Diego Botanical Gardens
The first Tuesday of each month is free admission to the San Diego Botanical Gardens. Usually the boys are in school on Tuesdays, but we were able to take advantage of this free Tuesday before the elementary schools are out of school for the summer.
I have not been there in years... since they created the new children's area.
The boys and I had a nice peaceful fun morning on a beautiful San Diego day
