"Kitty" in a "Cage"

I came up with this game when I was a little girl. I would fit myself under a laundry basket and pretend I was a homeless kitty. My mom and sister would take me in and care for me. Westley has a very  realistically annoying meow, but he had fun being "kitty"

"House Painting"

Today we played at Westley's friend Christina's house again. She has a playhouse that they "cleaned" last time, so I thought maybe this time they would enjoy "painting" it. I brought large paint brushes and a plastic tupperware container with a hole cut out of the lid to minimize water spilling. It worked great and all three kids stayed busy for a long time.

Shaving Cream Body Painting

Westley called himself Messy Wessy during this activity.
It was cute to watch Will observe then copy Westley.

We did this right before bath time so clean up was easy.

Candy Land

Good old traditional, American fun
Not sure I love that it teaches/emphasizes candy, but fun none the least.
Westley had quite the attention span for playing a total of 5 games with either Dad, Mom, or Grandma Kathy, and still wanted to play more.
Poor Will, he had to completely sit this one out after eating one of the cards.

Milk Carton Ball Toss

I remembered this from  PE  Elementary school with Ms. Friday
We just cut off the end of a milk cartons and used a ball that wasn't too hard/heavy.
It's really more of a standing up game, but somehow all my photos of when they were sitting down.

Car Wash

Usually we just get our cars washed at the gas station. Westley enjoys riding through the automated car wash. Will and I are both scared of it. Instead of Kevin and Westley going through the car wash, we thought the boys would have more fun if we washed the cars ourselves. We were right! Both boys got into it and scrubbed away!

Too bad they probably won't think it is so fun when we make them do it when they are older.

Picture Book

After preschool and a really long nap, we had to leave straight for Westley's open house. We were able to do an activity there together. We made a book where Westley cut out and pasted pictures from magazines. He loves to use scissors and glue so maybe tomorrow we'll add even more pages to it at home

Ball and Spoon Races

Grandma set this one up for us today. It's like the classic egg relay race but not messy (or wasteful)! Westley enjoyed setting the timer, and got pretty good at balancing the ball on the spoon. He practiced counting how many balls we each got in during our turns. It was cute to see that Will knew what we were doing. He would put his ball on his spoon all by himself!

Bird's Nest

We went on a scavenger hunt to find twigs, leaves and feathers that would make a nice soft new bird nest for our bird. Then we glued it all down in a paper bowl. Bird loves it!

She even lays eggs sometimes (I thought ahead and froze some malt ball eggs after Easter) One of the few candies Westley has ever had. He says that the bird's eggs taste like chocolate milk.

Stamp Art

We took our activity on a play date today. I have all my stamps from when I was a kid. And magically somehow, all my stamp pads, that I'm sure came from Pic N Save, are not dried up at all and they still work well. Westley and his friend Christina each filled 3 papers full of stamped animals, shapes, and words

Musical Instruments

We got some new musical instruments today and had some loud percussion fun.
The song Jingle Bells seems to be a year long favorite in our house.

Body Tracing

Today we did body tracing, and shared the fun with Aunt Lisa and baby Drew. Will decided to do a sensory activity with ice instead (after dumping my water glass while I was tracing Westley)

Sidewalk Painting

We'll start with an easy one- today we did sidewalk painting. Water and paintbrushes =no mess - except for when Will decided to dump the whole bucket of water all over himself. No big deal as it was 6:45am and he was still in his jammies.
